Viagra For Women

Viagra For WomenViagra is not a new drug and it has been in use for several years, decades even, in different parts of the world. Traditionally Viagra has been used as one of the most effective solutions for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Since erectile dysfunction- basically just the inability to either have or sustain an erection- is a problem that only affects men, it is therefore easy to see why the drug has traditionally only been used by men.

Can women take Viagra?

Although erectile dysfunction may only affect men, research has shown that women too have problems sometimes when it comes to the subject of sexual arousal. Data on the subject indicates that about 50 million women from all across the globe have problems of sexual arousal. And not just the women who have already gone through menopause and are at the post-menopausal stage. So what can be done for them?
This is the question that prompted a recent research conducted to establish the safety and effectiveness of women Viagra. The study which was extensively covered by ABC News explored the effectiveness of the drug among 202 women taking Viagra over a 12 week period. All the women had problems of sexual arousal, also scientifically referred to as female sexual arousal disorder. After the study, it was established that the women the women taking Viagra reported improved sex lives after taking the drug in some very specific and statistically significant areas of their sex lives.

Viagra women may not yet be even half as many as the men who take Viagra but, following the study, it was clearly established that there are some very significant Viagra effects on women- results that effectively led to the approval of the very first Viagra products for women this year recently. To be precise, women who took Viagra in the study were not only more aroused before sex but enjoyed it more, had more lubrication and were eventually able to achieve orgasms.

Like in men, the use of Viagra among women also led to increased flow of blood to their genital regions thereby creating more warmth, more lubrication and eventually more sexual arousal. Even post-menopausal women who had seemingly lost their capacities for sexual arousal were able to enjoy sex more once they took the drug. According to the researchers who conducted the study, the results showed that the effects of Viagra on women were not very different from the effects of the drug on men.

Viagra side effects among women

Any discussion of women Viagra would not be complete without an in-depth discussion of the drug’s side effects on the women that took it. Again, it is worth noting here that these side effects were not significantly different from the side effects that men experienced. You can read more about the side effects of Viagra among men in this article.

As with men, the side effects of Viagra among women were aggravated in specific situations including the following:
Wrong dosage- every woman should get the right dosage of Viagra in order to mitigate or prevent the side effects associated with the drug. Taking more Viagra than was absolutely necessary, for instance led to side effects ranging from mild to severe. In the same way, taking Viagra more than once a day also increased the risk of Viagra side effects among the women that took it.
Wrong application – every man who has ever taken Viagra knows that the side effects of the drug can increase or become more severe if the drug is either consumed along with other alternative erectile dysfunction drugs or taken with recreational drugs such as alcohol. Men under other medications such as blood thinning drugs are also usually at much higher risk of suffering the Viagra side effects compared to men who were not on such medications. All of these reactions to Viagra among men taking the drug were found to be just as true among the women who took Viagra. In fact some were more severe among the females than they were among the men folk.

Besides the above, Viagra can also have some serious side effects among women if the drug is consumed during pregnancy. You should never use Viagra while expecting! The research also showed that dosage of Viagra among women tended to differ from dosage among men. At present, the drug is available in three dosages and the 50mg dosage is the one that is usually recommended for men taking Viagra for the first time. However, from the research, it was clear that some women might require less than this or more in order to achieve the same results and avoid the drug’s side effects. As a woman it is important to always seek an expert prescription before you touch the drug.
